Haryana allotted two AIIMS as part of Centre’s plan to establish 23 new AIIMS

Haryana has emerged as a key beneficiary of the Centre’s ongoing expansion of tertiary healthcare, with the state being allotted two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) under a plan to set up 23 new AIIMS across the country. Announcing this, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said the move reflects the government’s focus on bolstering medical education and advanced care facilities in Haryana.

Speaking at a function organised by the Indian Medical Association in Ambala City, Nadda lauded Haryana’s progress in strengthening public health services and noted that the new AIIMS projects will complement the state’s ongoing investments in medical colleges and specialty centres. He added that the broader AIIMS expansion is part of the Centre’s effort to increase access to quality, affordable tertiary care and modern medical training across regions that have traditionally been underserved.

The likely locations are Rewari and Jhajjar, which already host major central healthcare institutions, including the AIIMS project at Manethi and the National Cancer Institute. However, formal site announcements for the two new AIIMS in Haryana are still awaited.
