India, France unveil Innovation Roadmap 2030 to deepen healthcare, AI collaboration
India and France have unveiled the Innovation Roadmap 2030 to expand their strategic partnership across healthcare, biotechnology, artificial intelligence (AI), and life sciences research, with a strong focus on accelerating collaborative innovation.
The roadmap aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies while advancing joint efforts in healthcare innovation and research.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated the first edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 at the Palais des Expositions in Nice, marking a significant step in deepening Indo-French innovation ties.
Organised by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education, the event serves as a global platform connecting India’s deep-tech ecosystem with international partners, investors, and research institutions.
At the core of the roadmap is a shared commitment to develop AI-driven and research-led solutions to address global healthcare challenges. Both countries have agreed to advance secure, consent-based data-sharing frameworks to enable medical research and public health innovation while safeguarding privacy and patient rights.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s growing innovation leadership, stating that “Bharat innovates with scale and speed… for a sustainable future… and for the world,” positioning the initiative as an open invitation for global collaboration.
President Macron described the hosting of the event in Nice as a reflection of the deepening Indo-French partnership, noting its evolution into a robust technological, scientific, and industrial alliance with significant future potential.
Building on existing collaborations between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and France’s Health Data Hub, both nations will work towards interoperable health data infrastructure to support AI applications, disease surveillance, and precision medicine.
The roadmap also reinforces cooperation in biomedical sciences through the Franco-Indian Campus in Life Sciences for Health (FIC-LSH), which is expected to expand joint research programmes, academic exchanges, and innovation partnerships.
Artificial intelligence remains a central pillar of the partnership, with both countries committing to the development of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI systems. In healthcare, AI is expected to enhance diagnostics, clinical decision-making, and accelerate the development of new treatments.
The initiative further promotes closer collaboration among universities, research institutions, startups, and industry to fast-track the commercialisation of healthcare and biotechnology innovations.
Platforms such as the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) and the newly launched India-France Innovation Network (IFIN) will facilitate joint research, technology development, and cross-border innovation opportunities.
Held from 14–16 June 2026, Bharat Innovates 2026 features 11 high-level panel discussions, sector-specific masterclasses, curated B2B meetings, and investor pitch sessions involving over 50 startups. The event brings together global industry leaders, investors, academia, and policymakers to explore opportunities across AI, semiconductors, biotechnology, healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, space, defence, and climate technologies.
