Centre invites proposals for common facilities in medical device clusters
The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has invited proposals for setting up common facilities for medical device clusters (CFMDC) under the Scheme for Strengthening of Medical Device Industry, aimed at enhancing the manufacturing ecosystem and quality infrastructure for Indian MedTech firms. Applications can be submitted through SIDBI—the designated Project Management Agency—via the Udyamimitra portal by January 31, 2026.
Priority will be given to applicants owning land and buildings and seeking to upgrade or expand existing testing facilities with additional equipment. Further details on eligibility and project guidelines are available on the DoP website.
This call follows recent invitations for two associated sub-schemes: the Marginal Investment Scheme for Reducing Import Dependence, offering 10–20% capital subsidy (up to ₹10 crore) to encourage local manufacturing of critical components, and the Medical Device Clinical Studies Support Scheme, designed to fund clinical validation and data generation for India-made devices. Together, these initiatives aim to deepen domestic value chains, reduce import dependence, and boost the global competitiveness of India’s medical device industry.
