SPIC hands over medical equipment worth Rs 10L to Thoothukudi GMCH

Medical equipment worth Rs 10 lakh was donated to the Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital by Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited as part of efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure in the district.

The equipment, essential for obtaining National Quality Assurance Standards certification for the Government Medical College Hospital and Primary Health Centres, was formally handed over on behalf of SPIC on Saturday.

SPIC Whole-Time Director Balu, Assistant General Manager Jayaprakash and Deputy Manager Manikandan presented the medical equipment to Thoothukudi Member of Parliament Kanimozhi and Minister for Social Welfare and Women’s Rights P. Geetha Jeevan.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated SPIC’s contribution towards improving healthcare facilities and supporting the hospital’s efforts to meet national quality benchmarks. The donation is expected to significantly enhance patient care and service standards at the medical college hospital and affiliated primary health centres.

The event was attended by Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy, Corporation Commissioner Priyanka, Government Medical College Hospital Dean Sivakumar, Councillor Kanagaraj and several other senior officials and representatives.

Hospital authorities said the newly donated equipment would play a key role in upgrading clinical services and meeting quality assessment requirements, benefiting patients across Thoothukudi district. Afternoon News
