Signature campaign against ‘privatisation’ of medical colleges in Andhra

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that a one-crore signature campaign will be launched to oppose the “privatisation of medical colleges” by the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing the party functionaries at Tadepalli on Tuesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the government of failing on all fronts, citing “corruption, spurious liquor trade, and neglect of farmers” as key indicators of maladministration.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would visit the Narsipatnam Medical College on October 9 to expose the government’s “dubious designs behind the privatisation move.”

The YSRCP would launch the campaign by distributing pamphlets and collecting signatures through ‘rachabanda’ (village-level outreach) programmes scheduled from October 10 to November 22.

Constituency-level rallies would be organised on October 28, with Jagan Mohan Reddy participating in one of them, followed by the district-level rallies on November 12. The collected signatures would be submitted to the Governor.

Dig at Naidu
The former Chief Minister alleged that governance in Andhra Pradesh had “completely derailed,” claiming that Naidu, his son, and associates were “hoarding looted wealth” while the common man suffered.

Liquor policy
“During our tenure, we maintained transparency in liquor policy, but the present government handed over the trade to its favourites, allowing spurious liquor to flood the market,” he alleged.

He also alleged that farmers were struggling to get urea, and the health sector was collapsing due to the flawed policies.

Naidu is spending lavishly on Amaravati, but cannot sustain the medical colleges initiated under our government. We will resist the privatisation move tooth and nail,” he added. The Hindu
