Dräger launches next-generation Polaris operating room lights in India
Dräger has introduced its latest Polaris operating room lights in India, bringing advanced surgical illumination technology to one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets.
The new portfolio comprises three models — Polaris Comfort, Polaris Pro, and Polaris Pro+ — each engineered for the demands of complex modern surgical environments. Core technologies include 3D shadow management, Light Guard heat control, and individually configurable lighting settings that allow clinicians to tailor illumination to specific procedures. High colour rendering and uniform light distribution enable surgeons to clearly visualise anatomical structures, differentiate tissue types, and maintain precision throughout an operation.
Patient and staff comfort are integral to the design. Light Guard automatically reduces heat exposure when multiple OR lights are in simultaneous use, while Anti-Glare and Eye Relax functions help minimise visual strain during extended procedures — a meaningful consideration in high-volume surgical theatres.
Ergonomics and infection control have also been prioritised. The compact, smooth-surfaced design features rounded edges resistant to disinfectants and is optimised for use under laminar airflow systems. An optional 4K camera enables wireless transmission of high-resolution surgical video for documentation, remote collaboration, and training.
“In the operating room, visibility is a critical enabler of safe surgery. With the new Polaris range, we are bringing globally advanced lighting technology to India — designed to provide consistent illumination, reduce fatigue, and support hospitals in delivering safer and more efficient surgical care,” said Shalin Patel, CEO Asia Pacific, Dräger.
Dhritimay Dhar, Vice President — Sales and Marketing, Medical Business, Dräger India, added that the Polaris range repositions surgical lighting “not simply as infrastructure, but as a critical enabler of surgical performance and efficiency” — reflecting the increasingly specialised demands of India’s evolving operating theatres.
