The Government is promoting the transformation of healthcare services through the development of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for smart hospitals to improve service quality, efficiency, patient safety and the use of digital technology in healthcare facilities.
According to a report published by CEOWORLD Magazine on April 2, 2024, Indonesia ranked 39th out of 110 countries in the Health Care Index with a score of 42.99. The country scored 64.37 for medical infrastructure and healthcare professionals and 54.02 for access to medicines and the affordability of healthcare services. Meanwhile, data from Statista Health International as of May 12, 2024, showed that by 2022 Indonesia had 1,058 public hospitals, 1,927 private hospitals and 10,205 community health centers. Despite this, more than 60 percent of the population still faces difficulties accessing primary healthcare services.
The development of technology-based or smart hospitals, including the system implemented at Mayapada Hospital Jakarta, is one of the Government’s efforts to improve healthcare services through integrated digital systems and advanced medical equipment. The innovation is expected to meet growing healthcare demands driven by population growth while supporting the transformation of the national healthcare system and the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision through improved public health.
