Bihar orders crackdown on private hospitals after Muzaffarpur blaze

In the aftermath of the devastating fire at Prasad Hospital, which claimed the lives of seven patients, the district administration has initiated an extensive enforcement drive against private hospitals and nursing homes across Muzaffarpur.

Described as one of the largest inspection campaigns undertaken in the district’s healthcare sector, the operation focuses on ensuring compliance with safety regulations and preventing a recurrence of such a tragedy.

The action initially focused on Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), one of the city’s principal medical hubs.

A joint team of administrative and health department officials, led by SDM Tushar Kumar, carried out surprise inspections of numerous private hospitals and nursing homes.
