Andhra pays Rs 501 crore dues to private hospitals

The Andhra Pradesh government has cleared dues worth Rs 501 crore to private hospitals providing treatment under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme so far.

NTR Vaidya Seva Trust in-charge chief executive officer and director of secondary health Chakradhar Babu, in a statement issued on Friday, said the government had decided to clear pending dues of about Rs 1,000 crore to private hospitals under a tri-party bill discounting agreement.

He said the agreement involves the AP Power Finance Corporation, NTR Vaidya Seva Trust and the managements of private hospitals, and that payments have been initiated from last Monday.

Out of 873 hospitals eligible to receive payments under the agreement, 531 hospitals have so far applied for clearance of their bills, he added. Deccan Chronicle
