After MVT setback, India, Bangladesh discuss cooperation in healthcare

India and Bangladesh discussed strengthening cooperation in public healthcare, medical research and advanced treatment during a courtesy meeting on Tuesday.

Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma paid the courtesy call on Minister of Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain at the latter’s office, said a facebook post published by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

Minister of State Dr MA Muhith was also present along with other senior officials of the Ministry, the post added.

Both sides also discussed exchanges in cancer care, traditional medicines, and “other people-centric initiatives responsive to affordable healthcare needs of both populations,” the post further read.

They also discussed proposals for collaboration in areas of capacity building, pharma industry linkages, medical education as well as digital and AI-enabled healthcare services, based on shared priorities of the two countries and guided by mutual benefit and mutual interest, the post said.
