Telangana to construct new Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad’s Goshamahal
Telangana government has started the process for the construction of a new Osmania Hospital at Goshamahal, Hyderabad.
The hospital will be built on a 32-acre land. The land is under the control of police which have built a stadium and sports complex on it.
Land transfer and hospital design
During the first SPEED (Smart Proactive Efficient and Effective Delivery) program review meeting held on Tuesday at the Secretariat, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to expedite the transfer of the Goshamahal land from the Police Department to the Medical and Health Department.
He emphasized the importance of finalizing the hospital design only after evaluating the medical requirements for the next 50 years.
“The new Osmania Hospital designs should be finalized only after assessing the medical requirements for the next 50 years in the state,” the Chief Minister stated.
He also instructed the authorities to ensure the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and has adequate road connectivity from four directions to avoid traffic congestion.
Construction plans and infrastructure
The new hospital will include academic blocks, hostels for nursing staff, and all other necessary departments.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to hire experienced architects to design the facility. He also proposed incorporating open spaces along with concrete structures to create a pleasant environment.
The existing Osmania Hospital buildings, which hold historical significance, will be preserved as heritage structures as part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project.
“The government will take the responsibility of protecting the existing Osmania hospital buildings as historical heritage structures,” CM Reddy assured.
Shifting of police facilities
The Chief Minister has tasked officials with identifying alternative locations for the Police Stadium and Sports Complex currently situated in Goshamahal.
District Collector has been instructed to inspect potential sites around the Police Transport Organization and City Police Academy in Petlaburj to facilitate this shift. Newsmeter
