Telangana shuts down 4 hospitals for hiring quacks as medical practitioners

The medical and health department has shut down four hospitals in Choutuppal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district for employing unqualified persons as medical practitioners.

The penalised hospitals are Sai Ram Ortho Hospital, Priyanka Ortho Hospital, Sanjeevani Physiotherapy Hospital and an ayurvedic piles hospital.

The hospitals were shut down after raids were conducted by a team of medical and health department officials, comprising deputy district medical and health officer Dr L. Yadhoda, project officer of National Centre for Disease Control Dr M. Suman Kalyan and medical officer Dr S. Katamraju.

Dr Yashoda said the hospitals didn’t even have the permit under the Clinical Establishment Act.

She advised the people to not take consultations from purported ‘doctors’ who do not have the requisite qualifications. Deccan Chronicle
