RGCIRC inks MoU with Merck India to bolster cancer care

Merck India has unveiled a strategic collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre under the Umeed program.

This joint initiative aims to enhance access to cancer care for individuals affected by head & neck and colorectal cancer. Rooted in a multifaceted approach, the Umeed Program seeks to empower patients, raise awareness, and serve as a knowledge partner to healthcare professionals, catalyzing positive changes within the community.

In collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Merck will prioritize raising awareness and educating communities in identified districts of Delhi about the signs, symptoms, timely diagnosis, and management of head & neck, and colorectal cancer. Merck Healthcare will facilitate counseling and screening events for patients, while also providing subsidized diagnostic assistance through various support programs.

Pratima Reddy, Country Speaker for Merck India & MD, Merck Specialties, emphasized, “With the cancer burden increasing in our country daily, through this collaborative endeavor, we aim to offer a comprehensive program that not only educates the common man about Head and Neck Cancer but also facilitates higher screening, timely diagnosis, and access to treatment.”

Aligned with Merck’s global aspirations and commitment to expanding access to healthcare in low- and low-middle-income countries (LMICs), the company has set an ambitious goal to reach 80 million patients by 2030 and make a positive impact on their lives. MedTechAsia
