My vision
A healthier India, backed by innovation – BPL MedTech envisions a nation where advanced medical technology is the cornerstone of a robust healthcare ecosystem accessible to all. Our vision is to be the preferred and trusted medical technology company, setting the highest standards on products and services, delivering affordable solutions to the last mile in the markets we serve, with a commitment to customer centricity and ethical business practices.
Achieving self-reliance
In line with our honourable PM’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, we have taken significant steps toward self-reliance in the medical devices sector. Along with GOI’s support in outlining favourable regulations and the PLI scheme, we have extended our manufacturing capabilities for the vertical integration of our products. In addition to our existing full-capacity factory in Palakkad, we have inaugurated an additional state-of-the-art facility located in Jigani, Bengaluru. With these two ISO 13485: 2016 certified factories, we are dedicatedly crafting medical devices that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Innovation and research
Our vision is to build futuristic R&D facilities, forming strategic partnerships with academia like IISC, IITs, as well as with leading technology partners to leverage existing expertise and localize them. On multiple occasions, I have addressed my expectation of clear and robust support in R&D initiatives from the GOI to fast-track product development and innovation in India.
Accessibility and affordability
We aim to develop technologically advanced, yet affordable, medical devices that are accessible even in remote places. By optimizing our manufacturing processes, streamlining supply chain systems, and collaborating with the GOI, we strive to lower the cost and ensure the equitable distribution of our life-saving medical devices.
Collaboration with healthcare entities
We recognize the power of collaboration and are committed to forming alliances with healthcare providers, clinicians, and public health agencies to gain valuable insights into the real-world challenges faced by both patients and caregivers. Our approach is to understand the preferences within the Indian demographics and design solutions accordingly.
Embracing digital healthcare
Our strategy involves embracing telemedicine and remote patient monitoring to create interconnected medical devices that seamlessly share data, facilitate remote consultations, and improve patient engagement with their healthcare providers. With the growing elderly population, connected homecare products will act as an EMR data repository for various vital signals being captured within a home setting on a daily or weekly basis, aiding clinicians to tailor treatment accordingly.
Strict adherence to regulatory standards and ethics
Our focus lies in robust quality control systems and regulatory compliance protocols, guaranteeing that our products meet international standards and certifications. Building trust among our stakeholders and end-users is the cornerstone of our success.
Employee development
We are committed to developing and retaining our talent pool for the long term with the professional development of our employees, providing them with opportunities for growth, and empowering them to take ownership of their roles.
We believe in catching them young when it comes to acquiring talent. BPL MedTech has collaborated with some of the top engineering institutes to recruit young interns for a period of six months to one year. We aim to provide exposure to these young interns with structured training internally, followed by absorbing them in job roles in areas of their interest.
Furthermore, we are soon launching an in-house job training program, which will be a certified month-long course. Upon completion, these skilled individuals will be equipped to contribute significantly across various departments in the MedTech domain like manufacturing, production, etc.
Export growth and quality
My vision is for India to emerge as the net exporter of medical devices globally over the next eight years, with the industry poised to reach USD 40–45 billion within this time frame. Achieving this requires a two-fold approach.
Firstly, a concerted effort on exports by all the Indian MedTech players is a must. Government’s support by facilitating medical devices donations through India’s line of credit can expand our global footprint. Additionally, imposing a high entry barrier for imports with Indian equivalents will safeguard domestic companies.
Secondly, establishing a strong reputation for quality is paramount. A zero-tolerance approach for subpar products must be adopted by all industry players for gaining international trust and competitiveness and scale India’s MedTech quality standards to global benchmarks.
Committed to our vision, BPL MedTech will not only forge a path toward a healthier and prosperous nation but also inspire a new era of innovation for generations to come.
