KT to build innovation valley for R&D in Seoul
South Korean wireless carrier KT Corp. will build an innovation valley for medical research and development (R&D) based on artificial intelligence (AI) in the Dongdaemun area of Seoul.
The company on Sunday said it signed a deal with Sahmyook Medical Center Seoul and the medical big data company Humanitas to build a leading AI medical city model. The main goal is to create a high-tech AI-based medical R&D innovation valley on the hospital’s idle plot.
Participating entities will set up an emergency medical system in Dongdaemun and secure medical data for R&D activity.
The district’s office will supervise the valley’s development process and support administrative procedures such as budget and permits. KT will build convergence infrastructure for information and communication technology such as AI and telecommunications there, while Humanitas will provide systems and data for medical R&D.
A promotional group of representatives from each organization has also been launched for the valley, which is slated for completion by 2028. KED Global
