J&K hospitals to launch QR code-based payment system
In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has issued directives to all hospitals in the Union Territory to implement QR code payment facilities within ten days, marking a pioneering step in healthcare payment systems.
The initiative aims to streamline payment procedures within healthcare facilities, providing patients with a seamless and efficient experience while reducing long queues at payment counters.
An official order from the Health and Medical Education Department stated, “All healthcare institutions under the control of the Health and Medical Education Department are directed to ensure QR payment facility for patients and attendants.”
Accordingly, Heads of Departments (HODs) and institutions have been instructed to ensure the availability of QR code-based payment facilities within the stipulated timeframe.
The directive mandates that QR code facilities be established at all payment counters in health institutions and be compatible with popular mobile payment platforms.
Additionally, staff members will be trained to assist users in the payment process, and a feedback mechanism will be put in place to refine the system further.
Dr.JavedIqbal, Deputy Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer to oversee the implementation of these directives in coordination with banks to ensure smooth execution.
The introduction of QR code payment facilities is expected to alleviate the burden on patients, who often endure lengthy queues to settle payments before consulting a doctor. This initiative promises relief, offering a more efficient and convenient payment solution for healthcare services. Rising Kashmir
