Indiana Hospital, CCU collaborate; to launch home care services

Indiana Hospital is set to launch home care services powered by Critical Care Unified (CCU), a leading home healthcare company in India. “Indiana Home Care Services aims to bring superior healthcare services and essential care,” said Dr Yusuf Kumble, cardiologist, Indiana Hospital.

Addressing the media at the Press Club on Thursday, June 20, Dr Yusuf Kumble stated, “Indiana Hospital is known for adopting innovative ideas with state-of-the-art instruments and the best doctors and paramedical staff. This time, we aim to address the issues faced by patients without insurance or government assistance. Recovery for some patients may take months, and prolonged hospital stays may not be economically viable for many. To address this, we have partnered with Critical Care Unified (CCU) to provide ICU treatment at home. Our staff will make regular visits to patients’ homes, recommended especially for those who do not require ventilators.”

“We are launching Indiana Home Care Services, offering ICU, blood tests, and comprehensive medical services at home. This will greatly benefit elderly patients. Such services are primarily available in large cities, and at Indiana Hospital, we aim to deliver high-quality care at a very economical value, right at your doorstep,” he added.

Ravi Shankar Upadhyay, vice president and business head of Critical Care Unified, said, “Critical Care Unified is a leading firm in India, and we are pleased to partner with Indiana Hospital. This initiative will benefit not only residents of this district but also those in border areas. The healthcare industry is expanding rapidly, and we aim to bridge the gap in ICU care. We have treated 40,000 patients so far, ensuring immediate hospitalization for bedridden and emergency patients. Responding to questions from the media about whether this is a first in Karnataka, Ravi Shankar clarified, “We operate in Bengaluru and various other locations across India, and now we are in Mangaluru. This initiative is particularly beneficial for Parkinson’s patients and elderly individuals prone to infections during prolonged hospital stays. Our service allows patients to receive necessary care at home, reducing costs and providing convenience, especially for diabetic patients requiring regular dressing changes.”

Regarding CCU’s role, Ravi Shankar explained, “CCU will facilitate operations for Indiana Hospital, coordinating and arranging services as per patient requirements. Our primary role is ensuring and delivering proper healthcare services.”

When asked about patient choice in consulting doctors, Dr Yusuf Kumble clarified, “While doctors may not visit homes routinely, we provide access to various specialists. In emergencies, patients can be shifted to their preferred hospitals. Video consultations with specific doctors can also be arranged.”
