Goa to upgrade SGDH

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane reiterated the government’s commitment to transparently upgrade the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), acknowledging the challenges and the time required for the process. He assured that efforts are underway to bridge gaps, including personnel and infrastructure for the cardiology wing.

Minister Rane highlighted the government’s successful projects, such as Goa Medical College (GMC) and the Super Speciality Hospital and mentioned ongoing initiatives like the Cancer Hospital. He noted that nurses have been sent to Mumbai for training in specialised fields like oncology and paediatrics.

Addressing concerns about the private medical college at SGDH, Rane emphasised its role in providing integrated medical services, including benefits like the DDSSY scheme, to the public.

Rane also mentioned the financial support from the Central government and technical assistance from private foundations.

Regarding anganwadis, the Women and Child Development Minister stated that they are being upgraded in phases, with rent issues being systematically addressed.
