Delhi launches dashboard for real-time ICU bed availability in 17 govt hospitals

The Delhi Government’s Health Department has launched a comprehensive online dashboard to provide real-time information on the availability of ICU beds in the city’s hospitals. The newly unveiled dashboard, accessible through the department’s official website (www.health.delhi.gov.in), aims to provide patients and their families with the knowledge to make informed decisions. By logging onto the platform, users can now easily check the current occupancy status of ICU beds across 17 government-run hospitals in the capital.

According to the data recorded on the dashboard, a total of 389 ICU beds are available in 34 units within these 17 hospitals. Notably, the dashboard indicates that 42.41 per cent of these beds were vacant as of late Saturday evening.

This development comes in the wake of a recommendation made by a committee constituted by the Delhi High Court, which had called for the creation of an online dashboard and a centralised command and control room to address the dire shortage of medical resources witnessed during the pandemic.

While the current dashboard only covers 17 hospitals, the Health Department has assured that the data for all 25 government-run hospitals in Delhi, which collectively house 1,058 ICU beds, will be gradually added to the platform. This comprehensive approach is expected to provide much-needed transparency and convenience to patients and their caregivers, who can now easily identify the nearest hospital equipped with available ICU facilities.
