Union Budget: Industry urges FM to cut customs duty on linear accelerators
In a pre-budget meeting, the industry urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to address issues related to cancer care equipment, health, and education spending and increase focus on teachers’ training under the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
They also sought to reduce the customs duty on radiation machines, such as linear accelerators. These are standard machines that are currently unavailable in the country. This comes even as several Indian medical device manufacturers raised concerns over importing pre-owned and second-hand high-end and high-value medical equipment.
