Philips Healthcare gave a further push to its India manufacturing unit, with the rollout of its entry-level catheterization lab (cath lab), Intuis. The product is entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India by Philips Healthcare Innovation Center (HIC) in Pune. With this, the company seeks to provide access to affordable cardiac care in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Intuis will be the sixth product that Philips' center in Pune has developed grounds-up for the Indian and the global markets.
Over the past few years, the HIC has started developing products that cater to the domestic and international markets. The company has exported 1000 systems from India to almost 90 countries. These include emerging markets in Africa, but also mature markets like the U.S. and Western Europe. Of the five products that the center has launched so far, almost all have been launched globally in a staggered manner, including the BV Vectra, a mobile surgical C-arm, and mobile Opta, a mobile X-ray unit.
