The stereotype of state-run hospitals running short of amenities is gradually changing for the better. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre will be sporting a new corporate look with four large screen LED 45-inch televisions relaying short motivational stories of cancer survivors along with short films that will talk about prevention of cancer.

The Cancer Awareness Through LED Screens initiative is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnership programme between State Bank of India (SBI) Life Insurance and the city-based NGO Helping Hand Foundation. The out patients department (OPD) at MNJ cancer hospital is visited by about 700 cancer patients every day, while an equal number of relative attendants come in. The new social message initiative aims to help comfort the anxious cancer patients and their relatives with success stories of cancer survivors. SBI Life Insurance also donated a new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to MNJ cancer hospital. – Telangana Today
