Project to be a PPP between State, GMCANA

A Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) on the premises of Government General Hospital, Guntur, will finally be a reality.

The AP government would shortly ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Guntur Medical College Association of North America (GMCANA) to construct the hospital on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.

Revealing the details of the plan at a review meeting held at the Podila Prasad GMCANA block on GGH premises, Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas said that the 600-bedded hospital would have six floors and would be built at a cost of Rs 65 crore.

The State government would build the ground, first and the second floors, while GMCANA would complete the remaining two floors at the site in which the old block has stood.

“The hospital is being built with Rs 20 crore grants from National Health Mission, Rs 15 crore from State Government and Rs 30 crore from GMCANA.”
