Finolex Industries Limited and Mukul Madhav Foundation have joined hands with the Pune Municipal Corporation to upgrade the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at four civic hospitals.

The state-of-the-art facilities are being set up at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Sonawane Hospital, Dalvi Hospital and Kamla Nehru Hospital.

A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed recently in the presence of municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar, guardian minister Girish Bapat and mayor Mukta Tilak.

In anticipation of the modern facilities at the four hospitals, specialized training is being provided to eight doctors and 29 nurses. Similar training will be provided at the existing NICUs in hospitals, including the one at Sassoon General Hospital.

With the commissioning of the NICUs, expert medical care for new born babies will be made available free of cost at these hospitals. – TOI
