Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Attavar, which celebrated its 25th anniversary recently, has issued special Manipal Arogya Suraksha cards to representatives of 34,000 below poverty line families in Dakshina Kannada district.
With these special cards, each beneficiary family will get an health insurance cover of Rs. 25,000. This apart, KMC Attavar will offer 25 percent discount on diagnostic tests and 10 percent concession in medicines.
KMC Hospital, Attavar, started as a cancer hospital in 1992. It is now a 600-bed multi-specialty hospital and a center for research.
KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, was started in 1996.
In a function here to symbolically hand over the cards, Pro Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal said that the Arogya Suraksha card will be helpful for BPL families who come in good numbers to the hospital.
